Renders GitHub-flavored markdown for assistant and chat content. Raw HTML in the source is not rendered, keeping untrusted model output safe to display. Lightweight LaTeX from the model is normalized to plain text (\frac{a}{b} → a/b, \times → ×, stripping \( … \) and $ … $ wrappers) so equations read cleanly.
